Lowering the drinking age from 21 to 18 would decrease binge drinking among college students.
Roughly 100 college presidents are part of a group that says current laws encourage dangerous binge drinking on campus.

The Debate 6 arguments
It is the *reason* for drinking, and not the *age* of the person that so called binge drinking is performed. In college, the task is to get drunk quick. The military has already lowered the drinking age on base, and binge drinking is not a problem because on base the task is to have a drink, and not get hammered.

I would have to agree! When I 18 I was fearless or so I thought. I could for see a lot more accidents....car accidents included.

I think that no matter what the law is people will break it. So if you change the age make stonger consequences.

i disagree if the government will let you go risk ur life in the army at 18,they should let you drink, its as simple as that.

think about it especially in Las Vegas. That means you would have to lower the gambling age as well and we all that that will NEVER happen. This has to be the dumbest thing i have ever heard of. Binge drinking is not because of the age. People BINGE drink at age 40. Its people who don't know how to control how much they drink. College Presidents are stupid at even trying to make this an argument and whoever is agreeing must be Under 18
I think they should lower the drinking age,but not just lower it make stipulations when they lower it.if they dont lower it people are still going to drink so why not just make it legal at 18?If you can work in a factory or go in the army at 18,why can't you drink?anwser that.

My question is: What are they going to do when the kids start binging in High School? Most Seniors are 18 and they are still kids. The law has already been inforced for age 21 and it needs to stay that way. Changing it now is only going to cause every parent in the state to go on nerve medication. Maybe that's the real goal!
Many people say this should be done because 18 year olds can go to war but not drink. I say that it should be lowered because at 18 your considered an adult with full personal responsibillity. If you contradict this for whatever reason you must be for raising the smoking, gun, draft, consent(sex), and to what age you may be tried as a minor. "The law should be just not partial."
Why can 18 Year olds go to Iraq and fight with guns and other sorts of explosives, but when they come home for a visit before they are 21 they cant unwind and relax with a nice beer? Makes no sense to me.
